Carpenter’s Gillian Finch Honoured in National Awards

for Carpenter UK’s consumer division, has been honoured in the Businesswoman of The Year category of the national Women in Furnishing (WIF) awards.

Oldham, base of Carpenter, received a finalist’s accolade at an awards ceremony in London on Thursday June 2 2011.

The special award was made in recognition of Gillian’s achievement at Carpenter where, in less than five years, she has established a multi-million pound new division of the company. As well as building the new business from scratch, Gillian has spearheaded development of the products themselves – from mattresses and pillows to children’s furniture and petbeds. She has also built a customer base that boasts a number of top UK retailers.

Commenting on her award, Gillian said: “Being nominated for the award was a complete surprise and I was delighted to be recognised as an ‘honoured finalist’ at the awards ceremony. I was up against some excellent candidates from across the furnishings industry.”
